Stumble into today’s adventure October 14, 2022

Destination today was Fullbright Park. thought we’d find a good hiking trail. Turns out this park does not have trails, rather just green picnic space and a stream that runs through it.

But we do find the Central Washington Agricultural Museum. Outside the museum is this tank. No explanation, just this tank behind the fencing.

Not sure what this has to do with agricultural.

Nice mountain, not going up further. Dog poop, everywhere. People are PIGS!

Here we are at the museum, quite frankly if it wasn’t free we wouldn’t have gone. Would have been our loss, it was interesting, in a junky kind of way

Allan checking out stuff! This one has Bailey brakes.

Pre-covid wash stations, stationary and mobile and huge

We encountered a museum worker who said this museum was a grave yard for old farm equipment. Cheaper for farmers to donate than to take to the trash. 🙂

Got us these steps before noon. What time is it now?

Reward time!!

Off to Valley Mall, trying to get Allan replacement, dare I say, Crocs!

A sad little chuckle reding these…

Start an exciting, fulfilling career with Sears?

All Sears stores closed in Canada years ago. What google taught me today….”There are 198 Sears retail stores in the United States as of September 28, 2022. The state with the most number of Sears locations in the US is California, with 19 retail stores, which is about 10% of all Sears retail stores in the US.” So, sounds like you can train in Yakima and transfer to California!

Stop 2, Yakima WA October 12, 2022

Goodbye Tulalip Casino, you were good to us

Our winnings, ended up not costing us anything & we’re a bit ahead. Love when that happens 🙂

Next stop, Yakima! We’re excited to be there as they have a hot tub. Our drive…

Lesson! My GPS wanted us to exit the highway then rejoin further down the highway. Allan’s says to keep going. We opted to, for once, follow Allan’s. Should have stuck with mine, now we realize it was attempted to divert us from this mess. All those poor truckers.

A rest stop with the big gals!

Almost there!

Here we are…

This looks a lot nicer than what it is. If Allan wasn’t such a skilled driver we would not have made it into this spot.

Win a few, lose a few.

What we learned crossing the US border, October 10, 2022…

Approaching the border…

When we crossed in August we declared we had chicken, steak, pork, eggs, tomatoes, on board and were waved through.

Why aren’t people using this lane. We must as an RV but cars are also permitted.

Knowing we had no issues crossing in August, we stocked up at Costco. We have unopened bag of frozen chicken breasts, an unopened 30 pack of eggs, butcher deliciously flavoured, stuffed, bacon wrapped chicken breasts, steak, pork, lettuce, a lemon, tomatoes, jalapeño …

What did Border Control take today? All chicken, eggs, (chicken/eggs can be taken if cooked/boiled), lemon, jalapeños. Had we not been permitted these items in August we would have know better on this visit. According to today’s, super sweet border guy, they felt bad taking so much, the ban has been in effect for 5 months.

Anyone wondering about alcohol??

No issues take what you want to drink.  You must declare it though.

Get much of it is cheaper in the US but Hubby loves Faxe Amber beer, for me it’s Bodacious Bourbon Barrel Aged Red

From the TTB “There is no federal limit on the amount of alcohol someone may import into the U.S. for personal use, however, large quantities might raise the suspicion that the importation is for commercial purposes, and a CBP Officer could require you to obtain an Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) import license before releasing it.”    https://www.ttb.gov/

For those in doubt we confirmed us Canadians are permitted to be in the US for 180 of the previous 365 days; not a calendar year.

An hour delay in and out of the customs office, being read the riot act, but we are off…

Hello Sumas

First US stop

Same spot we had last time was waiting for us!

First US meal (hum didn’t we do this in August 🙂

Yummy delicious!

Should have just walked by, not winning tonight. We all know these casinos were not built on winners!

Good night

Thanksgiving 2022

Although we are not anxious to give Harrison Hot Springs Hotel any money becuase it’s them standing in the way of us attended the hot springs they are the only place in town offering a Thanksgiving Dinner

Start the day with laundry, love our W&D, then a walk around the park, then games room time. Boy!! Do I suck at pool!! Allan is much better

More evenly matched in ping pong 🙂

A game of cards, which I won, then off to our first buffet since the onset of Covid.

Wow, we’re first in line! Like being in front of the grazers!

Great dinner, all the basics plus salmon ++ strangly missing… mashed potatoes

No where as good however, as last Thanksgiving with Kyle & Megan. Miss you guys!! Flash back photos

Our table was the second from the right. They got it cleaned super quick for the next in line.

A huge house we walk by on our way back

Yahoo, hot tub is a go tonight

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and remember

Harrison “NO” Hot Springs, October 08, 2022

A walk around our park, Springs RV Resort. It is a nice park, keep reminding myself it’s not their fault there are no available hot springs.

Love this golf cart!

Although it’s difficult to see this is a working merrry-go-round.

Those eyes! Those teeth!!

Our newest buddy!!

Back home its dice time! Allan clobbered me in both games.

Hot tub time!! Not so fast, they have sign up saying because of bubbles the hot tub is closed. So ends another day.

October 07, 2022 off to Harrison Hot Springs; Springs RV Resort

Today is, World Smile Day, Smile more than normal!

Did not know this: As is well known by now throughout the world Harvey Ball, a commercial artist from Worcester, Massachusetts created the smiley face in 1963. That image went on to become the most recognizable symbol of good will and good cheer on the planet.

Springs RV is 20m from Camperland, a little challenging as check out is 11 and check in is 1. Allan called and sweet talked us into an early arrival.

The sites here are privately owned. We have the biggest in the park but for the nightly rate we were expecting a nicer site. No camp fires here which we knew but we’d never buy into a place that doesn’t allow fires. I know you’re all surprised to learn this.

All settled in walk to town in search of the hot springs.

My Sasquatch is way cuter!!

Hum, still searching for the hot springs. See a sign “hot springs source”, head there to find only the source

Where the heck are the hot springs?? We go back and through the village and come across the Vistor’s Info Centre. In we go, “Where are the hot springs” we ask.

In a nut shell, there are no hot springs available if you are not staying at HHSR. The “source” pumps the hot springs to the Harrison Hot Springs Resort. You must be a guest to go. They will hold the rights till 2039. They also own the public mineral pool in the centre of the village which we learn was opened 2-1/2 weeks ago after being closed for 2 years. The info lady is not impressed and has suggested to the Mayor the name should be changed to “Harrison NO Hot Springs”

We’re as disappointed as this guy

We were intrigued by the Sasquatch legend…. The Sts’ailes believe that that the Sasquatch is not an animal, not a figment of the imagination, but rather a supernatural entity that can vanish into the spirit realm at will; this may explain why the elusive being is so difficult to track down. Bridal Falls, last full day October 06, 2022

A day in the life…Wednesday was such a hectic day, we decided today would be un-hectic.

Breakfast done, it’s fire & coffee time!

During our stay, it has only rained once. Each morning starts off with a chilly hazy, the sun burning through 11ish with the day’s highs in the mid to upper 20s. Today is no different, we especially like the heat the fire gives off to heat our bones.

Fire done, it’s time to bid adieu to the falls.

Still not a fan of uphill walks, here we go. Last falls visit of this stay. I know I’ve said this several times, here I go again. I wish UP photos would depict the actual UP!!

Goodbye Bridal Falls

Hello! (well deserved) rewards

Goodbye water park that has been “closed for the season” since we got here. It does look like it would have been fun.

Back at Bailey we have our step goal at 152p! We ROCK! Well, I seem to rock a little more than Allan 🙂 The day’s not done, more steps to come

Today’s (uncalled for) words of wisdom

Next up, cards. Settle on Omi’s card game, it’s a version of Rummy. She loved it, so do we. Game plays 10,000, hum who won? Anyone play the Monopoly card game? It takes about 20m a game, Allan is a fan and I’m starting to warm up to it.

Fall leaves

Evening fire

From all this wood

To only one piece left, we made our goal of getting all the wood burnt

Late night snack, grilled cheese

Yummy Good night

1st October weekend, 2022

Saturday Oct 1st – Hope, BC

This Hope visit we start at the Visitor’s Centre. Travel tip: Visit the Visitor’s Centre, we always walk away with interesting facts and stuff to do/see we wouldn’t have known otherwise. This time we learn there are 80 chainsaw statues, we start the self-directed walking tour but didn’t get to them all.

Big bear, little bear

Bear fighting eagle

Dude hiding from bear. Seems we are all about them bears!

Hope, we learned at the Visitor’s Centre, is where the Coquihalla River meets the Fraser River.

Back home for the obligatory fire!

Sunday October 02 – Sardis Park, Chilliwack. The description sounded like Fairy Lake, our favourite Newmarket park, it turns out it is just much smaller

All those dots in the lake are Canada Geese! Happily they are not as mean as Newmarket’s geese!!

These guys are so very noisy! We walk around the lake a few times and venture out to the connecting subdivision, at 8k steps back at the lake it’s

time for “rewards”

Here they are!

And just like that, they all, as one, fly off. It really was interesting to see, also curious how this recorded sideways

Gonzo!! All gone!

The lake, before & after!

Back to Bailey for fire time

End of week 1 in Rosedale, September 30, 2022

Sep 26th – Bridal Falls but first a quick trip to Agassiz for produce.

We get to duck our #63

We’ve had a few “oh shit” moments in which the door doesn’t want to open. Door adjustment time!

The falls were a bit timid and the creek around it bare, still nice to see

Rewards!! Well deserved, the hike up was brutal, up, up and more up

Fire time!

Sep 27th – Cultus Lake, hazy smoky. Lunch will be a meet up wirh friends

Would you like to live here?

Do you think they may be slightly overpriced to be on the market this long?. 175 days. 106 days, 42 days

Meet Mags & Steve. A super fun couple, we had many laughs

Home to another fire!

Sep 28th – A trip to Chilliwack. Unfortunaly it was a dreary day but most have been sun filled so not totally complaining. Not many photos…

Sep 29th – Abbotsford

Today’s mission! BCAA to renew Bailey’s insurance. We were a little leery of the renewal cost because of the windshield replacement and subsequent chip repair. Pleasantly surprised it went down pennies 🙂.

Time to celebrate before doing a Costco run

Fire time!!

Sep 30th – Take 2: another walk around the falls

Caterpillar!

Reward time! Spot them??

Chef Allan! On the menu tonight… Chicken parmesan with spaghetti marinara, requires just a few dishes…

Requires a few dishes!

Hats off to the Chef!! Super delicious! Not trading you in any time soon!!!

The clean up!! I’m up!!!

Only 3 things can’t fit in the dishwasher drawer

Fire time!!

So ends September!

Moving Day, September 23, 2022

Eagle Wind RV to Camperland RV Resort in Rosedale, a whopping 54 minute drive.

We’re hyped as the fire ban was lifted. Allan has not lost his fire building abilities 🙂 Doesn’t that look say “YEP! I still got it!!” I love that face!

We bought firewood from the park, $10 a bundle of 6 scrawny bundle of 6. that lasts about 1-1/2 fires. We’re here for 2 weeks so FB Marketplace to the rescue. A barrel full for $20.

September 25th adventure = new fire wood.

Off we go, this is a part of the route we will be on for our next Bailey campground. Didn’t realize we would be on a super long, just under 2km, narrow bridge. Allan is not a fan when in Bailey. Notice the smoke is still in the air. Up

The Agassiz-Rosedale Bridge is a cantilever truss bridge carrying two lanes of BC Highway 9 across the Fraser River just south of Agassiz. The bridge was completed in 1956, replacing the Agassiz-Rosedale Ferry.

Up the mountain we go

The view from the almost top

$20 well spent! It’s our first birch, hoping it’s the best yet 🙂

Work is never done! The door sticks, we’ve had a few “oh shit” will it open moments. Allan is getting it fixed, we hope

Fire time!! Did good with this purchase 🙂

Good night!
