But first a bit of time gambling yesterday’s winnings. $20 for each of us, yep we continue to be BIG gamblers.
We were doing OK, until we weren’t. Reminds me of my first flight to Las Vegas, I was young and so excited to be there. A woman behind me when disembarking said “Sweetheart, you’ll see glitz and glamous, fabulous casinos just remember none of it was built on winners”. I think that everytime I enter a casino!
We left happy, ahead in winnings! Such fun, hope to return.
Before leaving we Duck, number 62, in Tulalip Casino parking lot. It’s a little cramped.
And we’re off back to BC. The drive is 1-1/2, we’ll be back in no time.
Challenging to know what lane to take, Vehicles (normally not wide enough), Nexus we have a card can we take that one. The one that makes the most sense, size wise is trucks. We opted for Vehicles. A little wiggle, giggle to get in, Allan does it! The only car in front of us, chatting with customs is there, for what feels like forever. Not usually a good sign even though we do follow all the rules, we’d prefer them not to enter Bailey.
As we are waiting the sign says “ArriveCan completed” WHOOPS Nope, we thought we didn’t need that anymore.
The Custom’s Officer asked us the normal questions including the ArriveCan. Nope we don’t. “Are you at least vacinated with 2 shots?” He’s huddling in his booth for, again what feels like way too long. He returms and says “I completed the ArriveCan for you but can only do so one time”. What a gem! Off we go, back in BC are we!
Eagle Nest RV Resort, we’re here! Sites are a little close but there are hedges between them so you do have privacy.
Loving they have a hot tub! Not so much a fan of the NO drinks. For once we’re rule breakers!
Yahoo, Allan’s driver, Scott McLaughlin qualified on the pole, mine, Josef Newgarden 2nd BUT WAIT… Josef will be starting eighth because of a grid penalty. 8th that’s in the thick of things the first corner is a killer. I am nervous, off we go in our new T-shirts
We are surprised how little the race is advertised. I guess these are established fans.
Our seats were pretty amazing, Section C4, Row 9, seats 36 & 37 at the action packed chicane. Pace lap, Allan in the lead blue car, me sucking fumes in 8th.
I’m nervous, but surprising the field makes it through with no incidents.
Camera down, I’m watching the race!
Outcome SUCKED, Allan’s driver for the dominant win, my driver with the loss. Race recap click here
Here’s Allan’s car in the lead.
Problem now is, Scott may beat Josef costing me my winning dinner.
Stay tuned, last race of the season is next Sunday!
You can’t imagine how happy we are to be here! We Ubered today, none of that walking stuff for us anymore!
Our seats are on what we think, is the best corner – the chicane. We don’t like when cars crash but it is exciting thinking they will make it through this time!
We’re, ok I’m, not taking many photos, so off to the paddocks to take a photo of our guys. Allan’s and my driver are both Penske, a first.
Penske has 3 drivers, mine; Josef Newgarden, Allan’s Scott McLaughlin, and the much no longer liked Will Power. He was my driver for several years but our radios have shown us which drivers are the asses!
Team Penske area
What is the team telling Scott? He’s the yellow guy. OK even I fell bad for him!
My hero! These measurments are not correct. Allan is 6’3′
This stopped yesterday’s practice, dropping sign leaking hydraulic. Second photo today’s back to almost normal
We stayed at Columbia River RV because we thought it was an easy, 50min walk to the track.
Turns out not so much, we ran out of sideways, shared the road with tractor trailers. Today’s do something that scares you is done!
Made it
Saw 2 support races, the USF2000 and the IndyPro 2000,
Visited Jimmie Johnson’s display
then, finally the IndyCar practice 1. That didn’t go so well…
There was an inident, we didn’t see from our seats that caused a red flag. When they announced a monitor was damaged and hydraulic fluids were leaking onto the track we knew it was time to call it a day.
For our first IndyCar race since Toronto in 2019. Allan’s worried I’m jinxing the race cause we were in St. Pete’s, FL for the 2020 race that ended up being cancelled at the last minute.
It was a nice, uneventful drive which is always good. Passed many dams and even more trains. Even managed to add 3 more states to our “been to” map that’s on the top of this page.
Our home for the next week, Columbia River RV Park
It was super hot getting set up. At least we have 50amp so all 3 ACs can run
No clue what these trees are but there are many in the area
Today we tour Kennewick, one of the Tri-Cities. First stop
A hiking here we go
Our least favourite, bridges with no railing. I only took a photo of the first one, more to cross that were more rickity. Turning back was not an option!
It is scenic!
Yep, it’s that time! Half way = “Rewards”
Heading back
It pays to look down something. This fella was enjoying the sunshine
Next stop, Home Depot to get a replacement charcoal chimney. Our’s broke yesterday we hoping this one lasts longer
Next, Rattlesnake Mountain Brewing. Razz Drop for me, Helluva Honey for Allan. Lucked it, it’s $1/taco Tuesday
This vintage car was parked by the brewery.
Next Walmart to stock up on stuff.
Last stop! Back to Bailey to visit yet another KOA laundry mat. The last one was nicer.
We weren’t certain if we should replace the washer & dryer or just have the washer repaired. We found a company to can repair, another who replaces. Now working on timing to see what works out.
